Archbishop Sumner Primary School
Uniform Dress Code
All ABS pupils are expected to wear the correct uniform to school every day. Our burgundy and light blue uniform items are an essential part of the school's identity and we believe that wearing a uniform:
- instills pride
- supports positive behaviour and discipline
- encourages identity with, and support for, our school ethos
- ensures pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome and included
- protects children from social pressures to dress in a particular way
- nurtures cohesion between different groups of pupils
- supports effective teaching and learning.
At the start of each school year, parents and pupils sign the Home School Agreement which states:
"Parents/Carers please ensure your child wears the correct school uniform and brings in their PE/Swimming kit when required."
Therefore, staff at the school will speak to pupils who are not wearing the correct uniform and remind them of expectations but parents/carers will also be contacted if the wearing of incorrect uniform persists.
